About this Website

This Sound Library

There are other online sound libraries, but given the many variables in audio creation, each will be unique. To take into account are, inter alia: location especially for field recording; equipment such as microphones; different instruments and the use of synthetic instruments and the qualities and colours of all these instruments; and if electronic processing is used then the myriad ways this can be done.

The sounds in this sound library are divided into six distinct categories: Cityscape, comprising of field recordings from around London; Commercial, comprising of commercially viable riffs/tunes/jingles; Country Escape, comprising of field recordings from around the Cotswolds and Caledonian Canal in Scotland; Instrumental Sounds, comprising of woodwind, cello and percussion; Quirky Sounds, comprising of processed instrumental samples, an early synthesiser and the noise of objects; and finally Type Beatz, comprising of beats in the style of a range of pioneers of popular music genres and also comprising of sounds akin to the music of leading figures in the jazz and classical realms. This sound library is unusual in its placing of commercial sounds and type beatz alongside the more experimental, such as the sound of an early synthesiser, the sound of objects and left-field recordings of the environment. Under every sound presented in this library it is specified whether the audio is raw or if electronic processing is used.
